Taxation of Unemployment Insurance Benefits

For calendar year 2009 only, changes in Federal and Maryland law provide that the first $2400 received in unemployment insurance benefits will not be subject to income taxes. For more information contact the Internal Revenue Service, the Maryland Comptroller's Office, or your tax professional. If you are receiving Maryland unemployment insurance benefits, but you are living in another state, you must check with the authorities in that state.
