Fact Sheet - $25 Federal Additional Compensation (FAC) Payment Information

American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (P.L. 111-5)

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (P.L. 111-5) provides, in part that claimants will be eligible to receive an additional $25.00 weekly payment for each week for which they meet all eligibility requirements and are eligible to receive any unemployment insurance benefits.

    • Claimants receiving regular unemployment insurance, Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC), TRA, worksharing, self-employment assistance, military or federal unemployment insurance benefits are eligible to receive this additional $25.

    • Claimants receiving Alternative Trade Adjustment Assistance (ATAA) benefits are not eligible to receive the FAC payments under federal law.

  • The first week for which the additional $25.00 can be paid is the week ending on February 28, 2009.

  • FAC payments will be payable to all eligible claimants who establish new unemployment insurance claims effective up to and including December 20, 2009.

  • The last week payable for the additional $25.00 payment is the week ending July 3, 2010.

  • The additional $25.00 will be included as part of your biweekly payment either by check or debit card.

  • No application will be necessary to qualify for these additional benefits.

  • The FAC payment does not increase nor decrease the basic unemployment insurance weekly benefit amount (WBA).  Your weekly benefit amount remains the same. The FAC payment is in addition to your regular weekly benefit amount.

  • If you have elected to have income taxes deducted from your benefits, it will also be deducted from the additional $25 payment.
