Work Search Requirements - Unemployment Insurance

Frequently Asked Questions Exemption from the Weekly Work Search Requirement during COVID-19 Crisis

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

All Maryland unemployment insurance claimants must be able and available for work.
All claimants must also be actively seeking work unless they meet one of the following conditions:

  • Have a definite return to work date within 10 weeks or less; or
  • Meet the conditions for an approved training waiver.

Claimants who are subject to recall but do not meet the 10-week-return-to-work date condition must search for work. Based on new law effective July 3, 2016, this group includes claimants age 60 and over who are subject to recall.
