Online Help for Renewing Your License

On-Line Help for Renewing Your License

It’s really quite easy! All you need to do is follow the step-by-step instructions on the renewal screen. Our system was designed to make it possible for you to renew your license quickly and easily – without complicated instructions.

Password/PIN Info

On June 25, 2003, DLLR changed the way that you access our Internet licensing applications. Previously, you used a Personal Identification Number (PIN), which we mailed to you, to protect your license information from unauthorized access. Now, you identify yourself to us online with certain personal information and choose your own password, consisting of 4 to 8 characters and/or numeric digits. With this password and your license registration number, you are able to apply for a license, renew it or update your information. You are also be able to change your password online, if you want, or create a new one, if you forget. This new procedure, which was developed according to current industry standards, is both secure and convenient.

Please note that:

  • If you are applying for a new (original) business permit or for a reciprocal, temporary, limited or new apprentice license, simply complete the desired application online. A sign-on is not necessary. If your application is approved, we will mail your license/permit. Use its registration number to acquire your password, as described above.
  • Additionally, if your original business permit application (only) is approved, we will also separately mail a PIN to you, to be used once, at your next visit, usually the first renewal. At that time, you will select a password, to be used during all subsequent visits.

Technical Support

The Internet is a worldwide public network that millions of people use daily. The time it takes to complete your licensing transaction will vary based on the number of people sharing the Internet. It is difficult to tell you precisely how long it will take to complete your licensing transaction. The best we can do is to give you an estimate. The best time will be between 5 and 10 minutes. The worst time will be between 15 and 20 minutes.

Should the response time in communicating with our Web site be unacceptable, we recommend trying early in the day or during non-business hours. If, in completing your transaction, you have a technical problem, please click on the link below and complete the online form. Please be prepared to enter the following:

  1. Your full name;

  2. The board for which you wish to apply for or renew your license

  3. Your registration number, if applicable;

  4. Your e-mail address;

  5. Your telephone number;

  6. Your fax number, if applicable;

  7. The type of web browser and version, for example, Internet Explorer 6;

  8. Your computer operating system, for example, WindowsXP;

  9. Your Internet service provider, for example, AOL;

  10. The date and time you experienced the problem; and

  11. A description of the problem.

Tech Support

An e-mail message will be sent to the Electronic Licensing technical support unit.  Someone from that unit will contact you as soon as possible to assist you.

Directions

Directions for each licensing program are outlined on every electronic licensing board's application page. The licensing board's screens take you step-by-step through the application process. Here are a few things to remember...

    Enter your registration number exactly as it appears on the form and your Personal Identification Number PIN that was mailed separately to you. These numbers determine which license type you are renewing and which licensing screens you must complete.

    If you fail to complete any portion of the electronic licensing process, you will not be able to successfully submit your application. You will get an error message when you try to submit. Use your browser's "back" button to go back to previous screens and fill in any missing information.

    Before submitting your credit card information, be sure you review all of the information on the final screen to ensure that your name and address are correct and that the license type are being charged for is correct. If you find any errors, use the "back" button to go back to the previous screens and make corrections.
