Job Service Specialist III
(Contractual)
Salary: $ 16.52/hour (Grade 12)

This is contractual position with no state-paid benefits (i.e. sick leave, annual leave, personal leave, holidays, health insurance, etc.). The persons filling this position may purchase healthcare insurance at the state's group rate.  Due to the contractual nature of this position, the selected candidate will be paid only for hours worked.

This recruitment is open to any qualified candidate who desires to work in Wheaton, MD.  The Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (DLLR), Division of Workforce Development and Adult Learning (DWDAL)/Office of Field Operations(OFO), is accepting applications from qualified candidates for the contractual position of Job Service Specialist III to function as a Local Veterans' Employment Representative (LVER) to conduct a special assignment to work on a "Green Jobs for Veterans" initiative in Montgomery County.

The selected candidate will be responsible to train workforce staff and other governmental entities on the newly developing initiative that will enable veterans and transitioning military personnel to understand the requirements to fill employment opportunities in the "green" economy. The individual will also be responsible for coordination between DLLR staff and representatives of Green Employers in the in the Department of Labor in the DC Metropolitan area on the developments and training for veteran job seekers in the "green" jobs.

This position is a 3 month contract to commence no sooner than 10/01/2009 through completion on 12/31/2010 (position my be extended through 03/31/10).

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: All candidates must possess a bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from an accredited college or university.

Selective Qualifications:

Candidates must meet one of the following LVER preference criteria for selection: 1) qualified service-connected disabled veterans; 2) qualified eligible veterans; and 3) qualified eligible persons [38 U.S.C. 4101(5)]. All applicants must submit a Veterans Administration Letter of Disability Rating (SF-15) dated within the last six months.

Conditions of Employment:

Candidates must also have access to their own means of transportation in order to perform the duties of this position. Business-related travel expenses will be reimbursed according to the terms of the State's official travel policy and reimbursement rates.
