May 5, 2018 - Laurel Park
#18-062 Jockey, Rosario Montanez, is fined one hundred dollars ($100.)
for failure to put forth every effort in riding his mount, “Mad Dog Matters”, out to the finish, by standing up prior to the wire, in the sixth race at Laurel Park on April 29, 2018.

May 5, 2018 - Laurel Park
#18-063 Trainer, Francis Abbott, III is fined two hundred dollars ($200.00)
for failure to have the foal certificate on file with the Horse Identifier for his entry “Raphael’s Promise”, entered to run in the second race, at Laurel Park, on May 4, 2018, causing an late scratch and refund of wagers.

BY ORDER OF THE STEWARDS

May 13, 2018 - Pimlico Race Course
#18-064 In the matter of stable employee Erick Rivera-Parilla: On May 12, 2018 Mr. Rivera-Parilla was requested to deliver a urine sample by the MRC Investigators. The specimen he rendered tested positive for marijuana.
COMAR 09.10.03.05 A(1)(a)(i).

A hearing was held on May 12, 2018. Mr. Rivera-Parilla appeared in the absence of counsel and waived his right thereto. Based upon the testimony and evidence presented at the hearing, the Stewards found Erick Rivera-Parilla in violation of COMAR 09.10.03.05 Drug Prohibition-Humans.

Accordingly, the Stewards hereby order:

  1. That the license issued to Erick Rivera-Parilla be suspended until such time as he has been professionally evaluated [COMAR 09.10.03.05, F(1)].
  2. That while he is under suspension, Mr. Rivera-Parilla be denied the privileges of all the grounds under the jurisdiction of the Maryland Racing Commission. [COMAR 09.10.01.45, 'Y (1) (a).]

May 16, 2018 - Pimlico Race Course
#18-065 Apprentice Jockey, Weston Hamilton, is suspended three (3) Maryland racing days, May 19, 24 & 25, 2018, for riding the horse “Private Drama” in a careless manner in the ninth race at Laurel Park on May 11, 2018, thereby causing the disqualification of “Private Drama” from fourth to seventh position.

May 27, 2018 - Pimlico Race Course
#18-066 Owner/trainer, Hassan Elamri is hereby fined Two hundred and fifty ($250.) dollars for acting in a way not in the best interest of racing.

#18-067 Jockey, Bernard P. Dalton, is fined two hundred and fifty dollars ($250.) for failure to put forth every effort in riding his mount, “Diplomat”, out to the finish, by standing up, misjudging the finish line, in the first race at Fair Hill Races on May 26, 2018.
