DLLR to Co-Sponsor Maryland Hispanic Business Conference

(BALTIMORE, 5/14/10) - Alexander M. Sanchez, Secretary of the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (DLLR), announced that DLLR will again be a major sponsor of the annual Maryland Hispanic Business Conference (MDHBC), to be held this year on Tuesday, September 7, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Bethesda.

"In this challenging economy, small minority-owned businesses need knowledge, resources and connections to sustain themselves and grow. MDHBC provides these tools as the leading Hispanic business event in our region," Secretary Sanchez said.

"As an agency heavily invested in helping diverse populations become fully integrated into the economic life of our State, DLLR is proud to do its part to ensure the success of the more than 20,000 Hispanic-owned small businesses in Maryland."

MDHBC is a collaborative effort of the Hispanic Chambers of Commerce of Maryland, Baltimore and Montgomery County, in close cooperation with government agencies that support business and economic development.

"We are delighted to receive the continued support from DLLR. It demonstrates the commitment of Secretary Sanchez and the O'Malley-Brown Administration to see Hispanic entrepreneurs succeed and do more business with the State of Maryland," said Lorna Virgili, 2010 Conference Chair.

The conference hosts a variety of workshops, training and business sessions focused on creating opportunities for participants from all industries and promoting business relationship building. The 2010 conference, themed "Count on the Growing Hispanic Market," focuses on expanding opportunities, creating wealth and connecting a network atmosphere that targets the fast growing Hispanic market.
