Career and Workforce Information

Nonagricultural Wage and Salary Employment (CES)

The statistics in this section are gathered from the Current Employment Statistics (CES) Program.  This program provides estimates of employment by place of work based on a monthly sample survey of employers.  Final adjusted numbers are available following the benchmark process (see individual tables).

NOTE:  Data have been revised to reflect 2008 benchmarks for 2007 through 2008.

TECHNICAL NOTE:  Maryland's geography has changed significantly as result of the 2003 update to statistical areas as defined by the Office of Management and Budget standards.  This update was based on new standards, the results of the 2000 Census, and a re-application of the standards using population estimates for 2001 and 2002.

Experimental Hours and Earning Data Series

For more information go to the Bureau of Labor Statistics' web site.

Beginning with the release of January 2008 data, publication of and estimation of the "MD Portion Cumberland, MD-WV MSA" series from the CES Survey will be discontinued.
